As the Founder and Managing Director, Shane’s journey spans over 30 years as a diesel mechanic, laying the foundation for EMS in 2005 with just a single Ute. Under his dynamic leadership, EMS has flourished into a powerhouse boasting over 200 employees and 70 Utes, serving clients from Perth, Goldfields to the Pilbara and abroad. Shane’s hands-on approach ensures a commitment to quality workmanship, while his strategic vision fuels business development and fosters enduring client relationships. With a focus on excellence, Shane Elphinstone continues to steer EMS towards new horizons, shaping the future of mechanical services with innovation, reliability, and unparalleled dedication.

Jody Elphinstone

Managing Director

With over 20 years of expertise in professional services encompassing Finance and Management and armed with a Diploma in Management, Jody has successfully grown the company to over 180 employees while maintaining a family-friendly business culture. Jody’s passion lies in providing clients with qualified labour and workforce solutions, while simultaneously ensuring that Elphinstone Group stands as the employer of choice for EMS’s dedicated team. Jody thrives on the challenges of the industry, with a vision to create a workplace that not only achieves business excellence but also nurtures the professional and personal growth of every individual within the organisation.

Operations Manager

Shaun Fitzpatrick, a seasoned professional with over 28 years in the industry, joined EMS in October 2020 as the Pilbara Coordinator, swiftly advancing to the role of Operations Manager. Throughout his extensive career, Shaun has cultivated strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. His commitment to excellence is evident in his leadership style, always prioritising the wellbeing and growth of his team. Shaun is dedicated to optimising outcomes and continually building on the solid foundations of collaboration and trust within the industry.

Benjamin Tholath

Finance Manager

Benjamin brings a wealth of financial acumen and strategic insight to the team. Holding dual certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Accountant (CA), coupled with a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Ben boasts an impressive 20-year career in finance across various industries. His expertise spans financial planning and analysis, budgeting, risk management, and ensuring strict audit and compliance standards.

Dean Shute

HSE Advisor

With a career in the mining industry dating back to 2004, Dean brings extensive industry knowledge to the EMS team, particularly in the underground sector. With experience as a nipper, service crew, truck operation, charge up and bogger operations, Dean is familiar with the inner workings of mining operations. Dean oversees incidents/accidents, conducts thorough investigations, and manages the company’s policies, procedures and management plans. His proactive approach and commitment to open communication make him a valuable resource for our team.

Amanda Renton

Human Resources & Training Manager

With more than 25 years of experience in the mining and resources sector including roles as a Process Operator and Control Room Operator, Amanda joined EMS as a of Senior HSE Advisor before being promoted to HR and Training Manager in 2022. With a Diploma in Management and Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety, Amanda is passionate about upskilling and recognising employee achievements, fostering progress and appreciation within the team.
